Illustration Friday, topic refrain

Abstand nehmen, ja, das sollte ich besser bei Süßigkeiten tun. Jedes Gramm Zucker wandert bei mir sofort auf die Hüfte. Ich beneide Leute, die essen können, was sie wollen. Und eine Sportskanone bin ich auch nicht gerade. Ich verbringe meine Freizeit lieber mit Zeichnen.

To refrain... yes, I should refrain sweet food. Every gram sugar moves to my hips. I envy people who can eat what they want. And I'm not a sporting ace. I love to spend my spare time with drawing.

Übungen / Exercises

Einer der Dozenten hat seinen Workshop für Urban Sketchers Barcelona abgesagt. Dafür hat er den Teilnehmern angeboten den Workshop auf facebook abzuhalten.
Das Thema des Workshops "Building a Sketch, how to set a point of view"
3 Übungen, die in Barcelona innerhalb von 3 Stunden durchgeführt werden sollten. Hier verteilen sich die Übungen auf 3 Wochen.

Erste Übung: Sich einen Sucher bauen und interessante Perspektiven finden. Dazu auf Stühle steigen und auf dem Boden herumkriechen. Dann ein Auge schließen um in 2D zu wechseln und das Ganze zeichnen.

One of the instructors did quit his workshop for Urban Sketchers Barcelona. He invited the people who booked it, to join his workshop on facebook.
The topic: "Building a Sketch, how to set a point of view"
3 exercises, that should be done in Barcelona within 3 hours. Now we have 3 weeks for the exercises.

First exercise: Build a viewer and find intersting point of views. Therefor, climb on chairs and crawl on the floor. Then close one eye, switch to 2D and draw the view.

Illustration Friday: storm

Nicht so einfach: etwas aus dem Kopf zu zeichnen. Ich bin es gewohnt, ob beim Aktzeichnen, beim Portraitzeichnen oder meinen Skizzen, ein Objekt vor mir zu haben uns es anzusehen. Neuland für mich.

Not so easy: to draw something out of imagination. I used to draw from the object when I do figure drawing, draw a portrait or sketch something I see. I am in uncharted waters!

Ich hatte bereits ein kleine Bleistift-Skizze von ihm gemacht. Und ich dachte mir, ich sollte an einem größeren Bild arbeiten. So wählte ich das kleine Bild auf seiner Website und fertigte eine aquarelierte Bleistiftzeichnung.





I already did a small pencil sketch. And I thought I should work on a bigger one. So I choose his website thumbnail and made a drawing with a watercolor wash.

Illustration Friday Wings

Ich hatte mich vor einigen Monaten schon bei Illustration Friday, einer Gruppe auf Flickr eingeschrieben. Da wusste ich noch nicht, wie aktiv die Gruppe im Internet ist. Ich war außerdem mit meinen Portraits sehr beschäftigt. Jetzt will ich wieder mehr andere Dinge zeichnen. Illustration Friday scheint dafür ideal zu sein. Da ich oft erst spät abends zum Zeichnen komme, benötige ich eine Alternative zu den Urban Sketchers. Ich denke, Illustrationen könnten eine große Herausforderung für mich sein. Mir gefällt besonders gut, dass auch hier alle Medien verwendet werden können. Diese Woche war das Thema "Flügel". Ich hatte noch eine sehr passende Zeichnung einer Fledermaus.

A few months ago I registered me at the flickr group Illustration Friday. At that time I did not know how active this group was in the internet. Furthermore I was very busy with portrait drawing. Now it's time to draw other things. Illustration Friday could be perfect for it. As I my "drawing time" is often late at night, I need a alternative to the Urban sketchers, because I don't want to draw my home (not so good to show my home in the internet). I think illustrations could be a big challange for me. I like, that I can use all kinds of media. This week the topic is "wings". I already had a matching drawing of a bat.

Ich dachte, es wäre nett zwei Künstler zusammen zu zeichnen. Mir gefiel Amy Ericksons Foto. Sie lehnt an einer Wand und sieht nachdenklich nach unten. Ich dachte, da könnte doch jemand ins Ohr flüstern. Da fiel mir Stuarts Foto ein. Allerdings war die Vorlage seitenverkehrt. Und das Licht passte auch nicht. Ich versuchte alles zusammenzubringen. Allerdings ist die Ähnlichkeit bei Amy nicht so gut. Bei Ihr habe ich immer Probleme. Diese Frau habe ich bereits 4 x angefangen...für die Tonne.
Nochmals bemerkt, die beiden kennen sich nicht persönlich...es ist völlig meiner Phantasie entsprungen

I thought, it would be nice to bring again two artist together. I did like Amy Ericksons photo. She loans against a wall with a thoughtful gaze as someone whispering in her ear. I remembered Stuarts photo. The reference picture was mirrored and the light was wrong. I tried to bring it all together. But the likeness of Amy is not the best. I have big problems to draw her. I tried her already 4 times for the bin. The persons on the drawing are two artist from JKPP that don't know each other. It is just my imagination.

Eperanza aus Spanien

Wieder mal ein Mitglied von Julia Kays Portrait Party. Esperanza Jiminez zeichnet gerne und Sie hat mich für ein Portrait ausgewählt. Mir gefiel Ihr Foto und ich hatte heute Lust auf Haare zeichnen. Ich zeichnete das Portrait zweimal. Das erste passte gar nicht und ich wollte nicht weiter radieren. Nachdem Das Gesicht und eine Haarsträhne fertig war, entschied ich mich neu zu beginnen. Ich finde es hat sich bezahlt gemacht.
Once again a member of Julia Kay's portrait party. Esperanza Jiminez likes to draw and chose me for a portrait. I liked her photo and today I fancy drawing hair. I drew the portrait twice. The first did not fit and I did not want to erase more. After the face and a lock of hair was done, I diceided to start again. I think it pays well.

Luli hat Fotos gemacht und sie mit "snapseed" bearbeitet. Sie meinte, Sie würde 20 Jahre jünger aussehen. Ich gestehe, ich war auch auf der Website der Software...;-)

Luli made photos and processed them with "sanpseed". She thought, it takes 20 years from her. I admit, I was on the website of the application....;-)

NC Mallory hat mich bereits 3 x gemalt. Wow... Ich hatte ihn erst einmal skizziert.

Jetzt musste ich nachlegen. Leider fiel mir zu spät auf, dass es neuere Fotos von ihm gibt. Ich werde mich demnächst nochmals mit einem Aquarell oder Ölbild seinem Gesicht widmen.
Die Skizze in meinem Moleskine von damals fand ich recht gut. Ich stell sie hier nochmals rein.

NC Mallory painted me already 3 times. Wow....I sketched him only one time very fast.Now I had to return. Unfortunately I did not see that there are newer pictures of him to work from. I want to apply myself to his face upcoming with a watercolor or a oil. I liked the sketch of his face. I want to post it here again.

Heute machte ich mich an eine etwas längere Zeichnung. Ich arbeitete eine knappe Stunde daran.
Today I worked on a longer drawing. I worked about an hour on it.

Fred Lauwerrs

Gerade bin ich ins Jahr 2013 geschlittert. Ich legte meine Zeichnung weg, ging mit meinem Mann auf den Balkon, köpfte eine Flasche Sekt und sah mir das Feuerwerk an. Als nur noch Böller zu hören waren und die Kälte langsam an mir hochstieg zog es mich wieder zu meiner Zeichnung. Es ist also die Erste, die ich 2013 fertig gestellt habe ;-)

Fred Lauwers hat ein paar großartige Fotos auf flickr gepostet. Im Style des 19. Jahrhunderts. Er sieht wie ein Revolverheld aus. Ich zeichnete ihn auf DIN A3 Papier und tönte die dunkle Seite mit Graphitpuder ab, der beim Spitzen meiner Fallminenstifte übrigbleibt.

I just slid into 2013. I put aside my drawing, went with my husband on the balcony, popped the cork of a sparkling wine and had a look at the fireworks. When only firecrackers were to be heard, I was freezing, it pulled it me again to my drawing. It is the first one that I have finished in 2013 ;-)

Fred Lauwers has added a few great photos on flickr in the style of the 19-th century. He looks like a gun-hand. I drew him on DIN A3 paper and toned down the dark side with graphite powder which I have from sharpening my mechanical pencils

Heute mal wieder ein Porträt. Barry hat mich kunstvoll in Szene gesetzt. Ich bin im Moment eher auf dem Skizzentrip, deshalb suchte ich mir von Ihm ein Foto heraus, das eher einer Urbanen Skizze entspricht. Mir gefiel die Vorlage, allerding ist das Gesicht auf DIN A5 recht klein und nur mit ein paar Strichen angedeutet. Also legte ich nochmals eine Gesichts-Skizze nach.

Today again a portrait. Barry arranged my portrait very artfully . I'm on the trip to sketch at the moment, so I was looking out for a photo of him, that rather corresponds to an urban sketch. I liked the reference picture, however the face on DIN A5 is quite small and indicated only with a few strokes. So I followed up again with a facial sketch.

Sallysnail for JKPP

Sally ... eigentlich weiß ich nicht, aus welchem Land Sally kommt, Sie zeichnet jedenfalls auch Portraits. Ich zeichnete Sie zuerst mit Büchern im Hintergrund. Die Bücher gefallen mir, Sallys Gesicht ist mir jedoch nicht gelungen. Deshalb legte ich noch ein weiteres Portrait nach. Alle Portraits und die Links zu den Leuten findet Ihr auch in meinem Flickr Fotostream.

Sally....actually I don't know in which country Sally lives. She is also drawing portraits. First I drew her with background. I like the books. But I think I did a bad job on her face. I dicidet to draw a second portrait. All portraits an links to the people can be seen in my flickr fotostream.

Heute war ich abwechslungsreich unterwegs...Bleistift, Kohle, Fineliner... ich konnte mich nicht entscheiden ob schnelle Skizze oder längere Zeichnung.... Es liegt nie am Motiv, sondern immer an meiner Stimmung welchen Stift ich wähle

Today I was very varied in drawing....pecil, charcoal, ink-pen...I can't decide neather fast sketch nor detailed drawing...I depends not on the theme, it's my mood...
